Engine is a value-oriented special situations fund, launched in 2013, that invests both actively and passively in companies undergoing change. The firm manages capital on behalf of endowments, pension funds, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. We have significant experience engaging with boards of public companies for the benefit of all shareholders. 

We are one of the five largest unaffiliated common shareholders of UniFirst. We attempted to engage privately with UniFirst's Board and controlling trustees. We went out of our way to try to find a private resolution to this contest and work together to maximize UniFirst's value. Unfortunately, the Board made our nomination public and rejected Engine's efforts to find a private and constructive resolution.

We have been forced to run a public proxy campaign to send a message to the Board that the status quo is no longer tenable at UniFirst.
